Does not control TV, VCR, DVD player or other device
Problem
You can't control your TV, VCR, DVD player or other supported device using your Shaw Direct remote.
Possible Causes and Solutions
- Your remote control may not be in the correct source mode. Press the appropriate source button for the corresponding device… TV for TV, DVD for DVD player, VCR for VCR, or AUX for an alternative supported device.
- If the remote does not light up fully, your batteries may be running low or dead. Replace the batteries in your remote, press the appropriate device button and try again.
- The device you are trying to control may be disconnected or unplugged. If the device seems unresponsive using the manufacturer's remote, try checking the connections.
- Your Shaw Direct remote control may need to be reprogrammed. Please choose your remote control from the listing here to find the remote control codes to reprogram the non-responsive device into your remote control.
- The device you are trying to control may not be supported by the Shaw Direct remote at this time. If you have visited the remote control listing and were unable to program your remote using the manual code entry or the manual scan method you will need to use the remote control that came with the device you are trying to control.
