No sound on all channels, but still have video.
Problem
After visiting multiple channels, you have no sound on any Shaw Direct channel, but you can still see video.
Possible Causes and Solutions
- Sound has not been programmed into your Shaw Direct remote or has become disabled. If you can turn up the volume using the front panel of your television but not using your remote, you may need to reprogram your remote to control the television volume. - The audio cables at the back of your receiver or TV may have become loose or removed. If you recently moved your television of equipment, your audio cables may not be hooked up to the same input as your video cables. If this may be the case, check the back of your TV to make sure that your video and audio connections are grouped together under the same input (ie: input 1, input 2, input 8). You can isolate the problem by checking to see if another device is working with your TV. If your DVD player has sound, but not your Shaw Direct system, check the cables connected to your Shaw Direct unit first.
- Some advanced televisions allow the user to disable sound in the television so that it can only be heard through an external stereo. Try entering your television options menu using the original television remote. Check the audio settings to be sure that your television speakers or audio output is still enabled.
- Try pressing the mute button on your Shaw Direct and television remote, if your volume has been muted, pressing the mute button again will restore the sound.
- If you are using an external stereo or home theatre system, check to be sure that your home theatre system is on the correct audio output channel. You may need to refer to your home theatre's original owner's manual for more information. Most manufacturer's post these manuals online for easy reference.
