No Sound

No Dolby Digital 5.1 Sound.

Problem

After tuning to a television broadcast featuring Dolby 5.1, you are not receiving a Dolby 5.1 audio signal.

Causes and Solutions

  • Check to be sure that your digital optical or digital coaxial cable is properly connected to a Dolby 5.1 compatible device (such as a home theatre system or stereo). Make sure that your home theatre or stereo is set to the proper channel or mode to receive signal from the Shaw Direct receiver.
  • Ensure that Dolby Digital is properly activated on your Shaw Direct receiver. Using your remote control, press Options, followed by 6 – "System Setup", 4 – "System Settings", 2 – "Audio Settings". Highlight Dolby Digital and press ENTER. Highlight "Save" and press enter to confirm your selection.
  • The television broadcast you are watching may not actually feature Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. While this is a rare occurrence, this program may be improperly labeled as featuring a Dolby 5.1 audio signal.
