Overview

Use these tips to troubleshoot your Shaw Direct remote control (IRC 600/URC 600). If these tips do not solve your issue, you may need to purchase a new remote control.

Can’t control the receiver?

  1. Press and hold the ENTER/OK button on your Shaw Direct remote.
  2. Observe which button flashes red.
  3. If you are trying to change channels and other buttons (TV, AUX) flash red, press the SAT button.
  4. If no button flashes, try changing the batteries of the remote.

Can’t control the volume?

In order to control the volume using the Shaw Direct remote, make sure you programmed it first. (Refer to the manual if you need to try programming with a different code).

  1. To verify if it is programmed, press the Volume button. The TV button on top should light up and a volume bar should appear on the television screen.
  2. If the TV button flashes when the volume button is pressed but there is still no volume control, this indicates that the TV code needs to be programmed into the remote control.

No lights or steady lights on your Shaw Direct remote control? Does it only work intermittently?

  1. Try a new set of batteries.
  2. Verify if any keys are pressed in too deep. In some cases, the buttons may get stuck.
  3. Remove the batteries from the remote control, wipe the interior metal connectors with a tissue or cotton swab, then return the batteries to their slots. Verify if the light turns on when keys are pressed on the remote control.
