What is Shaw ID?

Shaw ID is a single login for accessing Shaw products and services like My Shaw Direct, BlueCurve TV App and other Mobile apps that come with your channel subscription. It uses an email address and a password.


Can Shaw Cable and Shaw Direct accounts be linked in My Shaw Direct?

Yes. To link accounts under a single Shaw ID, you must have a Shaw ID first.

Creating a Shaw ID

How do I create a Shaw ID?

You can create Shaw ID by going to my.shawdirect.ca; click Register Now. For a walkthrough, click here.


Is a
'@shaw.ca' email address required to sign up for Shaw ID?

No. you can use any email address — Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.


What if I don’t have an email address. Can I still register for Shaw ID?

No. An email address is required to sign up for a Shaw ID.


What if I enter the wrong email address when signing up?

You can simply re-register with the correct email address. The other Shaw ID will not be activated unless you activated it through the confirmation email we sent.


I have activated my Shaw ID but when I am trying to login in, I am stuck on the page with a message ”please wait while we retrieve your account information.”

Please ensure that you are using a support platform:

  • Operating System: Windows 7+ or Mac OS X 10.7+
  • Web Browser: Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari 10+

Other browsers such as Internet Explorer are no longer supported.

Shaw ID Account Information

Can the first and last name displayed Shaw ID be changed?

Both Primary and Secondary Shaw IDs will have access to manage various settings using My Shaw Direct.

  1. Go to my.shawdirect.ca/
  2. Within the My Profile section, locate Manage Your Shaw IDs
  3. Modify the name by clicking on Change name.


How can I reset or change their Shaw ID password?

You can reset or change your passwords using the following self-serve options:

  • Reset Password
    1. Go to my.shawdirect.ca
    2. Click Forgot your Shaw ID or password?
    3. Enter in your Recovery email.
    4. Confirm, I am not a robot.
    5. Click Reset password.
    6. Check recovery email account for email instructions to reset password.
  • Change Password
    1. Go to my.shawdirect.ca
    2. Within the My Profile section, locate Manage Your Shaw IDs.
    3. Click Change password.


What happens when I reach the maximum of five secondary Shaw IDs?

The Primary Shaw ID will see +Add Shaw ID button grayed out, and a text will show that 5/5 IDs have been added to the account.


If I have a Primary Shaw ID and I cancel my account, what happens?

When an account with Shaw ID is cancelled, you will no longer be able to access the digital products and services that the account was eligible for.


Can all linked accounts access the associated digital products and services at the same time?

No. Only the Primary Shaw ID associated with the default account will be able to sign in into eligible digital products and services. If the Primary Shaw ID holder needs to sign in into other services associated to the linked account, they will have to change the default account. You can do this by logging in to My Shaw Direct and accessing the Add Account option under My Profile section.


Can I still link accounts in My Shaw Direct?

Yes, the Primary Shaw ID on the account can link accounts using the following self-serve option.

  1. Go to www.shawdirect.ca/my-account
  2. Within the My Profile section, click Add Account
  3. Enter Account number and Postal code
  4. Click Verify account

The account where you are linking another one will by default become the Primary Shaw ID.


Do I still need to have the Username and Password to link accounts?

No. Going forward, when accounts are linked with My Shaw Direct by a Shaw ID user, only the account number and postal code are required. You can link any account that does not have a Primary Shaw ID already associated with it.

If there is an existing My Shaw Direct credentials on the account being linked, it will be retired and will no longer be able to log in into any of our online properties or apps. The Primary Shaw ID will need to send a Secondary Shaw ID invite to household members that require access to the account.


Is there a limit on how many accounts can be linked to one account?

One primary and up to 4 additional secondary account holders (5 in total).

Secondary ID

How can a Secondary Shaw ID be added to an account?

The Primary Shaw ID on the account will need to send invites using the following self-serve option.

  1. Go to my.shawdirect.ca
  2. Within the My Profile section, locate Manage Your Shaw IDs
  3. Select Add Shaw ID
  4. Enter First name, Last name, and Email address
  5. Click Send Invitation and the invitee will receive an email with a link to register for a Secondary Shaw ID


What happens when a household member does not want to accept a Secondary Shaw ID invite?

If a household member does not want to accept the Shaw ID invite, they can do the following:

  • Ignore the emailed invite and it will expire in 48 hours
  • Select the "Let us know" link in the email and the invite will immediately expire.

If the Let us know link is clicked in error, the Primary Shaw ID can send a new invite.


How do I link an existing Secondary Shaw ID to an account as the Primary?

If the other account doesn't have an existing Primary Shaw ID:

  1. Remove the Secondary Shaw ID from the account via the Shaw ID Tool
  2. The customer will log into My Shaw Direct using the Secondary Shaw ID information
  3. Select Add account
  4. Add the Account Number and Postal Code.
